I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist who provides psychotherapy to clients in addition to being a Clinical Supervisor, Consultant and Trainer. Throughout the 22 years that I have been working in the mental health field I have specialized in the treatment of adolescents and adults with anxiety, depression, self-regulation and interpersonal difficulties.
While on faculty in the Psychiatry Department at the University of Connecticut Health Center, I spent nearly five years clinically researching and developing treatment manuals for people with anxiety disorders and depression. I also spent three years coordinating an outpatient clinic while providing psychotherapy and supervision.
I continue to train and consult locally, nationally and internationally on adolescent and adult anxiety, depression and trauma related topics. I am a part-time Consulting Psychologist for the State of CT. My statewide trainings have included topics such as: The Psychological Impact of Domestic Violence, Developmental Impacts of Extreme Stress and Trauma, Managing High Risk Adolescent Behaviors, Essential Affective Self Regulation Skills, Addressing Trauma in the Prison Population and Addressing Vicarious Trauma.
I worked with the Connecticut Trauma Initiative as a Clinical Consultant and Trainer specializing in TARGET, a manualized treatment for adults and adolescents which I co-authored. I have co-authored two adolescent treatment manuals and one adult treatment manual for people who have experiences extreme stress and/or trauma. The manuals are presently being used in CT statewide mental health agencies and private practices.
I am a trained substance abuse counselor as well as a nationally certified trauma expert. I am trained in a variety of clinical treatment approaches and I have extensive background working with ethno culturally diverse families, adolescents, adults, families and couples. I have worked as a therapist in three countries in a variety of settings and have traveled extensively for my work and education.
For graduate work I attended the Harvard University ALM Psychology program. I obtained a Doctorate in clinical psychology from the Fielding University. My Masters internship was completed at McLean Hospital in Belmont MA, supervised through the Harvard Medical School. My Doctorate internship and Post Doctoral fellowship were completed at the University of Connecticut Health Center supervised through the University of Connecticut Medical School.
My most cherished achievements are that I am a wife, mother and stepmother. I enjoy a full and active family life. I also share my life with a strong network of family and friends. I love to travel, be outdoors doing anything, garden, cook, teach and learn. I am energized by interacting with people but I also like to balance that energy with meditative and reflective time each day. I strive to be fit and healthy in mind and body.
